He nodded, knowing fully well the feeling that she was describing. “I’m sorry that you forgot about your friends, but I take it that you remember them now,” He said, taking her hand in his and holding it on his lap, rubbing his thumb in circles against her skin. “I don’t remember mine, I’m not even sure if they exist or if it’s something I’m making up. How did you manage to remember yours?”
Kairi bit her lip, trying g not to cry again as she cursed herself for causing her lower lip to bleed again. She wanted so badly to relax when he took her hand in his; but she was anxious– she was afraid of him leaving. “It was as if I was asleep..” she started, trying her best to make sense of what had happened to her during that time. “You know, when you sleep and you sort of lose the reality that youre even existing. It was like that, except I was only like that towards them.” Kairi couldn’t help it; she squeezed his hand and hid in his chest. “But I love them. They are my friends. And that’s how I was reminded of them. Whenever you love someone.. you never really forget them.”
“I remember them, slightly,” He began. “A girl, and a boy…they look surprisingly similar.” Axel snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her over to sit between his legs in front of him. “I loved them- I still do. I just don’t remember who they are.” He sighed.
Kairi was such a big part of his life, he needed to keep her in it, and as much as he wanted to find his friends, he didn’t want to leave her. “Do you think you might be able to come with me? I understand if you don’t want to, you no doubt have friends and family here, an entire life of your own. But, I can’t handle being without you, Kairi. It’d mean the world to me if you came.”
